Just in time for the Australian Summer, Open Records returns to present the release of their 2nd full length CD, “Festivus” compiled by Suspekt & Woodsman.
From the tribal progressive trance & house Open Records has become known for, to new directions of deep, hypnotic techno & electro-influenced material, the compilation aims to capture both the classic & future sound of the Australian festival season.
Drawing on cutting edge productions from both international masters & homegrown talent to create a stellar collection of festival stompers- Festivus is a return to strong form for the Australian label after the success of their first compilation Slow-Release.
Featuring 9 tracks from artists such as Fiord, Wombat, RPO vs David Weed, U&K (Tero Civill Remix), Embark, D-Sens vs Eegor, 2Kings in Motion, GMJ & Urban Monkeys- the sounds on Festivus represent both a maturation of the themes explored in their first compilation & a step in a new direction for Open Records.
Their simple philosophy of “music first” means that each track has its own special place on the compilation, making Festivus a must for fans of intelligent progressive dance music, DJs & listeners alike.

Re: Open Records Australia :: VA :: Festivus :: OUT NOW!!!
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 1:52 PMRPO vs David Weed – Plovdiv
This song sounds so good when played at high volume out in the desert just after dawn. The DJ even played Keen String just before as in the order on this record and mixed them seamlessly together. Those two songs go together. It sounds good on my home stereo too. My neighbors listen to it too and they don't even have a stereo. :)
I'll have to track down a record store and see if they can get me an original.
Darvin made an observation about a comment I made when I said how much different the music sounds when played over a real sound system as compared to these speakers attached to my computer. He said he sometimes would have to double check the song while mixing or producing in a studio to make sure he had the right song playing because it sounds so different than at an event. I used to think that volume was just volume, but now I know better. :)
Set & setting? Almost like preparing for a psychedelic experience. Is that where the name comes from? True for progressive too? -

Re: Open Records Australia :: VA :: Festivus :: OUT NOW!!!
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 4:13 PMThats what the Open Records sound is about mate... its made to be played from as bigger speakers as possible!
Glad you digging the release- we worked really hard on it so its nice to see it getting some support.
The easiest place to get a full copy of the compilation is here www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/o...1cd002.html or beatport.com of course!
:)
Thanks again for your support, its muchly appreciated... without it we couldn't exist! -

Re: Open Records Australia :: VA :: Festivus :: OUT NOW!!!
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 10:28 PMHey! Thank you for creating the song! :) It really is an awesome song. The second time I heard it was at the LunarSun just after dawn.
Simply incredible when it was played and how I felt at the time. I really like the vibe and sound of it. Will RPO vs. David Weed be making some more songs of a similar nature? It's getting kind of hot for the desert here in California, but towards fall you ought to see about getting them over here for a set or two. :) Or maybe next Spring? Or at a higher elevation mountain setting for some cooler temperatures. Maybe hook up with Terrakroma or Green Sector? www.terrakroma.com/
I'll see about the record shops in my area. I have the feeling that I'll have to head north to Los Angeles or the Valley, but there might be something in the Santa Ana/Orange County area. Anyone have some help for me? I'm still kind of leary of the internet, but I'm working on getting a way to buy things using it. It is a global market, plus the usual shipping and handling charge. :) -

Re: Open Records Australia :: VA :: Festivus :: OUT NOW!!!
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 10:58 PMIf you following this kind of music, Internet is easily the best option. Most places can ship in a short amount of time, or if you really keen to get it, beatport goes as fast as you can download! In Australia, we don't have a whole lot of options to buy progressive from stores, so I've always relied on the internet... haven't had a problem yet!
RPO vs David Weed has produced a number of monster tracks since Plovdiv, also best available from beatport.com. Truth be told, most good labels have their stuff on beatport these days and its a really good way to keep up with the latest tracks from all your favourite artists.
RPO is a really well known producer, famous all over the world... if anyone is interested in booking the guys i can put them in touch if need be :)
Thanks again for the support!
